Jackson's Interview with TBO

After five films, hordes of die-hard Twi-hards and billions at the box office, "The Twilight Saga" concludes Friday with the release of "Breaking Dawn: Part 2."

Jackson Rathbone, who has played sensitive vampire Jasper Hale for four years, says he never imagined it would be such a wonderful ride.

"I had no clue it would be this big when I signed on for a vampire movie," he said. "It just blew up."

Rathbone, who originally auditioned for the role of Edward, said he studied Civil War photographs and movies to help him portray the stoic vampire, who became a bloodsucker in the Civil War era.

"He's definitely angry," he said of Jasper. "He's the newest (Cullen) to the veggie way of life and he's still very reticent about his way of life: He nearly kills Bella. It's like not being able to eat at an all-you-can-eat buffet."

The Twilight hunk said he loves playing a vampire because "they're much cooler than wolves," and he understands the Cullens' appeal.

"They're a group of outcasts," he said. "A lot of times we feel like that. We just want to connect with people, to be a part of a group, like they are."

The actor admitted he would love to reprise his role as Jasper in more "Twilight" movies, but he's ready to hang up his fangs for now. He's busy developing films, has a solo record coming out in December called "Billy Bad Ass," landed a role on the USA Network series "White Collar," and, most importantly, he's relishing his role as new dad to 4-month-old son Monroe.

"My son is the most amazing thing in the world."
